Good Morning Villagers
Isn’t it great seeing our chick and especially the Dyfi chick going from strength to strength now, and great news that most people agreed with the action they took to save the remaining chick. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing last night when Lady was feeding the chick, it ate and ate and ate and still ate, I thought it was going to burst.
Nestcap Monday 11th June 2012 Fish Deliveries - 2 00.04 Lady Sleeping 00.23 Awake to preen 00.25 Lady nods off 00.30 Back to preening under her wings 00.33 And she nods off again 00.36 Back to preening again under the other wing now 00.37 Doing a little digging now in the nestcup 00.38 A wiggle here and a wiggle there and…. Sleep
00.48 More preening now on the edge of her wing 00.52 Settles down again and the chicks head pops out from the side and its sleep too 00.53 The next 4 mins Lady preens and dig before sleeping 00.57 Settles again and snuggles into the chick 01.11 Lady digging again and the chick still sleeps, I think Lady is moving the eggs too 01.12 Lady looking around now 01.28 Head under wings now 01.30 Head back down now 01.33 More preening 01.39 Head back down 
.51 Head goes under her wings again to sleep 01.53 Head back on the nest and sleeping 02.18 Lady sleeping 02.35 The chick is sleeping on the other side now under Lady with it head sticking out 02.58 Lady wakes and looks around then tucks her head under her wings 03.30 I think the chick must be restless under her as every now and then she lifts her body up a little 03.33 Lady’s awake again and up she gets and give her wings a good flap and the chick is waddling about 03.34 She’s off and straight back, must have been a quick loo break 03.35 She stands at the edge and preens again, chick watching her every movement 03.41 Still on the edge preening and now the chick joins in 03.47 Lady having a little scratch whilst standing on the nest edge, now settling down on her little baby, not so little now as she’s having a bit of a job to settle. 
03.49 Lady looking over at the side of the loch and dawn is breaking too 03.55 Lady’s fell asleep again 04.08 Lady’s awake an looking out towards the loch now 04.10 Camera switches back to Day Mode now 04.12 Lady nods off again 04.18 Lady’s looking around now 04.46 Laddie arrives to say Morning, Lady just looks at him 04.47 Laddie just stand on the edge of the nest looking around and chirping away 05.01 Off he flies and Lady just sits looking about 05.20 Chick is wanting out for under her and sits at the front 
05.21 Lady is off, chicks up, wondering where she is. 05.23 Lady is back now and lands on her perch and the chick is up for a poop shot 05.26 Lady makes her way down to the nest 05.27 And settles down with the chick 05.57Laddie is back with another stick now and tries to position it 06.01 He’s now sitting on the edge of the nest on look out 06.05 Lady gets up and goes to the other edge of the nest and preens 06.10 Laddie is off again, wonder what he’ll bring back next, Lady and the chick carries on preening 06.12 It looks quiet on the loch. Lady is sitting serenely and the little one is just stirring half under her breast. 06.22 Lady gets up and stretches her wings and flies off. Chick looks huge. She’s back almost straight away and perches at the back and the chick stomps around the nest 06.25 She flies off again and chick flaps his wings and looks round for her. Back again after a minute during which chick has been sitting preening. She settles down in the nestcup. 06.58 Laddie arrives and moves a branch at the back of the nest. 07.08 Laddie still sat on the side of the nest with Lady and chick. has been there 10 mins now 07.10 Laddie flies off 07.25 Lady has been preening at the side for at least twenty-five minutes now. 07.55 The chick stirs, flaps its wings and preens under its wing. Lady is doing the same. it’s been an hour since she began. 08.02 The chick is up and does an enormous shoot over the nest. it looks as if it is expecting to be fed soon 08.03 Lady flies off. 08.05 Laddie arrived to guard the chick and Lady straight afterwards 
08.07 Both parents perch on the edge of the nest at the back and Lady goes to the post behind 08.08 Off Laddie goes 08.10 He’s back and she comes down to the nest 08.11 Chick moves around looking eagerly at Mum and Laddie flies off 08.14 Chick pecks at moss, either to join in on the housekeeping or to show he’s hungry. and Lady walks round and adjusts a few bits and pieces herself.08.15 and she sits but can’t resist replacing the bark 08.33 LADY SETTLED ON THE NEST – PREENING 08.41 Lady’s starting to shout for her breakfast 08.50 Lady is calling again. She gets up and preens to the right of the nest. 08-50, Lady on the edge of the nest, Rocket resting. 08.56 LADY STANDING AT SIDE OF NEST PREENING
09.10 Mother and chick are preening together. 09.37 Lady leaves the nest and chick pecks round. She returns at once. 09.40 Off she goes again – and the day camera is switched on. 09.42 In close up the chick looks like a little cactus. 09.42 CHICK ALONE ON THE NEST 09.43 LADY BACK 09.46 LADY STANDING WITH HER TAIL OVER THE CHICK 09.48 LADY NOW MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE NEST AND PREENING 09.59 LADY SETTLED OVER CHICK NOW 10.12 Laddie has just landed, not with a fish though- and he leaves after a few moments 10.40 LADY TRYING TO SETTLE DOWN ON CHICK, WHO IS GETTING A LITTLE BIG TO HIDE UNDER HER NOW 10.51 Lady trying to brood Rocket but s/he is getting very big and she is struggling to contain her/him! 11.21 Lady sitting preening and it looks like the chick is settling down now 11.46 Lady shouting, now having a quick preen, then shouting, then preening 11.55 Lady still preening and the chick watching her 11.58 Laddie’s arrived and standing at the edge on look out duties and Lady is gently talking to him, I think she is getting ready for nagging mode now 12.01 BOTH ADULTS ON THE NEST AT LOWES – LOVELY FAMILY GROUP AGAIN12.01 Lady is off leaving the chick with Laddie 12.05 Lady’s back and chirping away and low and behold, Laddie’s off 12.14 Lady is such an attentive Mum – she is always there with Rocket – we are just not used to long absences. 12.20 Lady just flown and back in a trice. 12.34 LADY AND LADDIE TOGETHER ON THE NEST 12.52 LADY SETTLED DOWN ON CHICK
13.43 Just been watching Lady and Rocket. He waddled around the nest and coming downhill from the back, he went head first into the cup, not quite A o T 13.53 LADDIE BACK ON THE NEST – LADY SHOUTING – MAYBE TELLING HIM IT’S TIME FOR A FISH! 13.56 LADY STILL SHOUTING – LADDIE TAKING NO NOTICE 13.57 LADDIE JUST FLOWN OFF – MAYBE HE HAS GOT THE MESSAGE THIS TIME? 13.59 CLOSE UP OF CHICK PREENING 14.07 LADY SETTLED BACK DOWN ON CHICK NOW 14.33 LADY PREENING ON SIDE OF NEST. CHICK PREENING LYING DOWN 14.52 Lovely close-up views of Rocket just now 
14.58 Camera needs pulling back so we can see what is happening – they heard me!! 14.59 Lady taking her frustration out on a piece of bark and Rocket is looking hungry 15.21 It’s at least 9 hours without a feed, I believe. 15.53 Lady is sitting pretty and quietly with the little chick under her. 16.00 Lady is up and fettling round. Chick still lying 16.05 Laddie is here at last with a fish and she get up straight away, chick with her. 16.07 That was 10 hours at least between fish! 16.20 CHICK HAVING A GOOD FEED AT LAST 17.00 Laddie flies in with half a tree!! Lady shouting. The fish he bought in before did not last long. 17.01 Lady just sits and shouts at him 17.02 Laddie flies off in the direction of his boing tree 17.04 Night Camera comes on now 17.22 Lady sitting looking around 1744 Lady up and shouting again 18.03 Lady on the side of the nest at 7 o’clock, chick fast asleep 18.20 Lady snuggled onto chick and looking around, probably for Laddie with another fish! 18.43 Large fish delivery. Lady straight on it. Looks like head is still on. It is flapping away18.44 Laddie flies off. Chick is up by the side of Mum waiting for his share.

18.56 Just love to watch Lady feeding after all these years she has such a vigour about her as though it was her first chick. 18.59 Look at Rocket – s/he is growing visibly – every day you can see a change in him/her 19.01 Laddie flies back onto nest, and watches Lady eating. The chicks crop looks stuffed. Still a lot of fish left, but Lady must be so hungry. Well the chick still has room for a bit more!! No surprise there.19.04 Laddie flies off 19.08 God this is better than you know what, shots of her Ladyship fuelling the rocket and then Dad makes it three. 19.12 Rocket is so stuffed s/he can hardly waddle and Lady is having a real good tuck in. 19.19 Lady is still feeding the chick, making sure it is well and truly stuffed for the night. It looks top heavy now lol.
19.20 Lady feeding herself. I think poor Laddie will have to go fishing again for his own supper. And still Lady is trying to feed a very full chick 19.22 Rocket now tucking into second course, and Lady too is enjoying high tea. 19.25 Laddie flies back on and watches Lady still trying to feed the chick
19.27 He flies off again 19.35 Lady flies off for a comfort break. Straight back. Still fish left on the nest. She settles onto the chick. Both have been well fed.
19.38 Laddie flies in and takes the remains of the fish 20.00 Lady looks as though she is having a nap 20.02 She lifts her head up and slowly puts it back down 20.03 Lady sitting up now 20.04 Now puts her head back down 20.12 Sits up again and shakes her head 20.15 She nods off again 20.17 Heads up again and looking around 20.18 Has a preen now then preens her breast feathers 20.20 The chick pokes its head out from under her wing 20.24 Laddie flies onto the nest and proceeds to eat the remains of the fish in front of Lady who just watches him!! 20.33 Laddie still finishing of the end of the fish 20.34 Lady still watching him eat 20.37 Laddie cleans his beak on the branches 20.39 He’s off now and Lady watches him fly off 20.41 The chick is preening and Lady still sitting 20.52 Chick is still preening 20.53 Lady gets up 20.55 Giving her wings a good flapping 23.01 – Lady having a good preen with Rocket lying beside her 23.37 – Lady lying with Rocket beside her – head to toe – they look lovely and cosy together 23.44 Lady sleeping now 23.47 Lady and Rocket fast asleep on their nest – may the Good Lord bless them both and all Villagers wherever you may be All screenshots copyright SWT http://scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/things-to-do/wildlife-webcams/loch-of-lowes/#
