Good morning everyone
Well what a day we had yesterday with our young juvie being satellite tagged and ringed, number Blue 44. It was a pity it wasn’t number 49 though, that would have been the icing on the cake with it being Lady’s 49th chick.
So many mixed emotions on the subject of the satellite tracking, for and against it. I do think with the technology that is coming along, it wont be long before these trackers are even smaller than the one’s that are around today, and maybe they will find a different way of attaching them rather than a harness. I personally am not sure about the harness as I have said before, but I do think we are getting valuable information from the tracker as to where our birds fly to, when, how high they fly, what direction, over the oceans/sea etc, which is something we would never have known unless we flew with them, but obviously that’s not going to happen any time soon.
