Thank you all so much for your kind words on the passing of my Dad. He had a massive stroke just under two weeks ago and a further catastrophic one the following day, which no one could recover from. We spent every minute we could with Dad until he passed yesterday just after 5pm. Rather freakily, Bob’s dad (who had advanced cancer and ultimately…[Read more]

    • A very difficult time for you all, FIONA – even though you were expecting it, it is still a huge shock. One of my closest friends lost her Mum and her Mother-in-law within hours of each other a couple of years ago, she too said how comforting she found it that they were both together. xx

    • So sorry about both your Dads FIONA, both so very poorly at the end, as you say, it will be of comfort that they are together now and out of pain and distress. A horrible time for those left behind and always seem to happen near Christmas. Jxxx

I have just returned from my walk and find that at such a sad time FIONA, you have taken the trouble to call in here to our Village to tell us not only about the passing of your Dad, but of that of Bob’s Dad just an hour before. With everyone here, my thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you cope with the all that must be dealt with in…[Read more]

    • I feel so sorry FIONA on reading this news. I pray that you and your family cope during this incredibly difficult and sad time.

    • FIONA, Such sad news that your Father and Bob’s Father passed within
and hour of each other. How difficult this must be for Eilidh and Conall.
Yes, it is good they have each other.
You are all in my prayers and that you will have the strength to see this through and find peace and comfort from all those who care.

    • Fiona – you are very brave to come and tell us the sad news. I don’t think we need to tell you that you are in our thoughts. At least you and Bob can comfort each other as you both go through the same grieving process xxx

    • FIONA, Bob, Eilidh and Conall, sorry to hear about both Dads in a short space of time of each other.
Please know that we send our love, thoughts and prayers to you all, to see you through the next few weeks..

      • So sorry to read your sad news Fiona,Thinking of you all.
I have lost two friends in the last couple of weeks One was a blessing as Jean had no quality of life during the last two years and all she wanted to do was just go to sleep.
        Take care xxxxxxx

    • Oh, Fiona, I am sorry to hear about the death of your father and your father-in-law. My thoughts are with you and the children.

    • I posted you yesterday but it didn’t appear. Have just messaged you top of page today. Thinking of you, J xxx

Thought you might like to see this photo of Poppy, taken at the Russian Blue Breeders cat show a couple of weeks ago in Stratford upon Avon. She won Best in Show, I’ve never had a cat win that award and it means even more that it was against other Russian Blues!

Good morning all ~ remember me? I\’m on holiday now and hoping to be around more. I know I\’ll never be able to read back so I hope that everyone is well xxx

    • Hi Fiona – was only thinking about you yesterday and wondering how Bob’s dad is. I’ve been away so I am out of touch too. Hope you have a great holiday.

    • Yes, we remember you, and your lovely avatar. Great to see you FIONA. Enjoy your holiday, and hope you have reasonable weather as well.

Well you\’d really hope so, I fear their desperation to have cubs will drive them on until the 10 year loan is finished

Just popped on for the first time in a couple of weeks, the blog has changed! Lol.
Hope everyone is well. I won’t manage to get on too much in the foreseeable future, although I will try. Bob’s dad isn’t too well just now and hospital visits are taking up much of our time. Please though if something needs attention can you pm me? These come…[Read more]

Thank you for your wonderful holiday report from Finland. I\’ve thoroughly enjoyed your trip! Sitting here with a wee red πŸ˜‰ waiting on the tennis final. I\’m not bothered who wins really, I\’ve always liked Del Potro, he\’s come through so much

    • Glad you liked it FIONA. At last, we have the tennis. I too like Del Potro, but at the same time with quite a few Brits winning Gold today, I think Andy should do likewise. I’m sorry for the Umpire who looks as though he’ll have his work cut out to control the crowd.

Such a beautiful garden Erica, I\’m so jealous

    • We are lucky and It is a nice garden but hard work and I am not on top of it, particularly this year and as I get older. We can’t see the pond this summer, that bit is so overgrown. I’m hoping for a mild winter to do things. Anyway, I’ll swap you the garden for your two beautiful children , and the cats!

Good afternoon villagers, I hope those feeling under the weather begin to feel better soon. Rosy, I don’t envy you the “run-up” to your colonoscopy, at least you have something lovely to look forward to after the procedure. I hope your wrist doesn’t hinder you too much when you are in Finland.

    • Glad you had a good time FIONA but such a pity about the lack of wildlife near your lodge, maybe when the new lodges are built the animals will find their way back. We are about to lose some lovely evening walks behind our house when a new estate is built. We are selfishly hoping that the recent fall in house prices will delay the start!

    • Glad you all had a lovely time, FIONA, except for the lack of wildlife.
When I heard that a centre parcs was proposed for the forest near to where we used to live in Suffolk, all I worried about was the wildlife. Every Sunday afternoon we would go for a walk through the Forest, and at certain points, stand absolutely still and quiet, and see the…[Read more]

    • Glad you had a good break at Centre Parc, FIONA -shame about the wildlife though
