Thank you Rosy and Jackie. How’s the building work Jackie? You got your windows just in time for the taste of winter didn’t you. Apparently my son’s extension is nearly finished now – just the carpets so we are very hopeful we may soon be able to visit.

    • Coming on really well JACKS. You’re right the windows make such a difference.. kitchen fittings started today, I will post a photo. Should be done in a couple of weeks.

I echo Jackie’s comments. Sounds most unusual but quite stimulating!

How anyone can kill the seal pups in Canada is beyond our understanding – they have the most adorable little faces.

I don’t think I posted this before. Had a trip to Rutland Water with Wildlife Group on Saturday and we arrived early to a very frosty morning. The moon was visible and I got this digi view – just amazing to see all the craters etc. more clearly than a normal size moon. The light was lovely but bitterly cold. This is a Great White Egret – white…[Read more]

    • Those are two great photos JACQUELINE. I too love the reflection of the Great White Egret. Rutland Water must be such a lovely place to visit.

    • Superb photos JACKS, absolutely beautiful.

    • Lovely photo of the moon JACK`s, and love the Great White Egret and the reflections.

    • Love the frosty moon.

That\’s great news. Thanks Jane and Marion for the link. They picked the wrong site and now everyone involved is realising it too.

How lovely to have such beautiful memories of your Mother Erica. I can see who you get your love of flowers from.

That was a very interesting article. Whatever we think it is after all an ad and it\’s purpose is to bring J.L. business but it would have been nice if it was accurate although I think anything that engages people with wildlife has to be, overall, for the good.

What an incredible sight – never heard of it before – must be quite a rare sight – talk about being in the right place and the right time.

Sounds a really interesting and informative talk. I would love to be able to come to the one on Swifts but don\’t think I can make it. I think everyone who loves wildlife loves Swifts.

Now that is one little bird I have yet to see. What a lovely picture. Thanks for all the pictures you post Erica.

That is so cute. We always leave fallen apples for the Thrushes but we do have Wood Mice – never thought they might like them too.

Erica – re Goshawk – we have a Raptor Watch Point about 20 miles or so from where we live – it sounds grand but just a pull in really. It is a great place not only to see raptors but to learn from the experts too.…[Read more]

Fiona – you are very brave to come and tell us the sad news. I don\’t think we need to tell you that you are in our thoughts. At least you and Bob can comfort each other as you both go through the same grieving process xxx

A beautiful tree. I think the colours have been spectacular this year because the trees held on to their leaves for so long but they are being blown off now but we still have some colour to enjoy before it all goes down-hill.

My word Jenny – I can\’t believe how much those two little girls have grown. They are lovely.
Brin loves lying in the sun too although I know he shouldn\’t really. Buffy and Isla are so lucky to have each other to snuggle up to.

@fionamcg – so sorry to hear about your father Fiona. A difficult time for your whole family – no matter what age we are losing our dad is heart-breaking. Thinking of you all but especially Eilidh and Conall. Sending you my sympathies.

That\’s a fantastic picture of a very secretive bird. How I would love to see one that close instead of just a fly-by.

    • I am in awe that you can identify one from just a fly-by. Glad you liked the picture. I try to post ones of maybe a rarer bird that most of us haven’t seen but might, a good shot of our common much-loved birds and/or a beautiful photo of nature that cheers the heart.

I doubt if you’ll see many birds in this weather.

You sound much calmer now Linda – the visit obviously did you good and I love your report on the deer rut – what a lovely thing to witness.
