@Erica there is a Balkan marble white in these pictures. Some of the images are from Corfu others are from Kintyre.

    • They are lovely photos, Peter. Thanks. I am sure you haven’t time to look in here often but I have recently been following NatureUK on Twitter and posting some of their photos of moths, bees dragonflies etc here and I have become quite fascinated with them. I identified my first Banded demoiselle in France in May ( which yours is not, I know) and…[Read more]

Good morning dear Villagers. At present we have bright sunshine down here accompanied by one of those breezes with knives in it – very, very chilly. I’m not complaining though as like you LORNA, yesterday I managed to gather up all the leaves ready for our final garden waste collection this year tomorrow. Thank you for your screen grabs…[Read more]

    • When I looked in a couple of times this morning ROSY, no Squirrel to be seen.

  • Rosy posted an update in the group Group logo of Village GreenVillage Green 12 months ago

LORNA, I have tried twice to post a comment about your super garden, lower down, but each time I pressed \’post\’, my posting just disappears! I hope this one will remain so that you can see my thanks for your great photos. You are so organised in all that you do.

    • ROSY, thank you, but it does mean the HW doesnt get done, until I have got the garden sorted, so tomorrow, I can do the dusting and vac. and probably visit a neighbour in hospital in the afternoon.
It still leaves all the pots and trays to be washed and stored away, but the weather forecast looks good for the forthcoming week.

      • Yes, I know LORNA, but anything to do with gardening is so much more satisfying I feel because a garden is a ‘living’ thing, whereas HW just repeats itself with none of the exciting discoveries such as can be enjoyed outdoors.

        • Ha ha Rosy – I agree – put the HW on the back burner – forever if I had my way!!!!

          • πŸ™‚ done the vac and dusting this morning and it wont need doing until after the hairdresser on Wednesday, which leaves me time tomorrow to plant the packet of Allium bulbs I found when moving the furniture around this morning, so you see, it paid to do the HW this morning πŸ™‚

Good afternoon dear Villagers. I’m afraid I haven’t been around here for the last couple of days, at least not properly. All’s well I’m glad to say, but life has been extra hectic, with comings and goings and a long time with E-mails between my Finnish friend Monica and myself re: endeavouring to book a hotel up in Bournemouth where we…[Read more]

Good evening dear Villagers. Having been ‘on the move’ rather a lot over the last couple of days, I haven’t managed to post here although I have been popping in for a quick read and to catch up generally. MARION, thank you so much for your latest Hedgehog videos. I’m wondering whether there is any more room for even more bedding to be…[Read more]

FIONA – Thinking of you today and just read the replies to your post of yesterday, I posted a message also but it doesn’t appear, it is in my record in the village though so here it is again:-

So sorry about both your Dads FIONA, both so very poorly at the end, as you say, it will be of comfort that they are together now and out of pain and…[Read more]

What a thrilling tennis match yesterday, WELL DONE ANDY, his win and JAMIE\’s win is the only good news we are getting at the moment. All due to their hard work, or more like slog, they deserve everything they have. Pure entertainment, puts the likes of Trump and BREXIT to shame! Long may they reign. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Lorna replied 1 year ago

JENNY, I watched it from halfway through the match, as Brother rang in. Yes, well done, all the hard work paid off. I thought that Andy at times looked tired, especially after loosing the advantage a couple of times, his shoulders drooped, and I did wonder if he had enough strength in him to win the match. Was pleased to see Jamie also collect a…[Read more]

Time for a cup of tea methinks before settling down to watch the tennis battle of the ‘titans’ between our Andy Murray and Djokovic. I’m rather worried that Andy might be very tired after yesterdays ‘marathon’ of a match; fingers and everything will be crossed. During that epic, of course on TV will be the dreaded ‘dance off’ from…[Read more]

Thank you all so much for your kind words on the passing of my Dad. He had a massive stroke just under two weeks ago and a further catastrophic one the following day, which no one could recover from. We spent every minute we could with Dad until he passed yesterday just after 5pm. Rather freakily, Bob’s dad (who had advanced cancer and ultimately…[Read more]

A very difficult time for you all, FIONA – even though you were expecting it, it is still a huge shock. One of my closest friends lost her Mum and her Mother-in-law within hours of each other a couple of years ago, she too said how comforting she found it that they were both together. xx

    • So sorry about both your Dads FIONA, both so very poorly at the end, as you say, it will be of comfort that they are together now and out of pain and distress. A horrible time for those left behind and always seem to happen near Christmas. Jxxx

I have just returned from my walk and find that at such a sad time FIONA, you have taken the trouble to call in here to our Village to tell us not only about the passing of your Dad, but of that of Bob’s Dad just an hour before. With everyone here, my thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you cope with the all that must be dealt with in…[Read more]

    • I feel so sorry FIONA on reading this news. I pray that you and your family cope during this incredibly difficult and sad time.

    • FIONA, Such sad news that your Father and Bob’s Father passed within
and hour of each other. How difficult this must be for Eilidh and Conall.
Yes, it is good they have each other.
You are all in my prayers and that you will have the strength to see this through and find peace and comfort from all those who care.

    • Fiona – you are very brave to come and tell us the sad news. I don’t think we need to tell you that you are in our thoughts. At least you and Bob can comfort each other as you both go through the same grieving process xxx

    • Lorna replied 1 year ago

FIONA, Bob, Eilidh and Conall, sorry to hear about both Dads in a short space of time of each other.
Please know that we send our love, thoughts and prayers to you all, to see you through the next few weeks..

      • Angela replied 1 year ago

So sorry to read your sad news Fiona,Thinking of you all.
I have lost two friends in the last couple of weeks One was a blessing as Jean had no quality of life during the last two years and all she wanted to do was just go to sleep.
        Take care xxxxxxx

    • Oh, Fiona, I am sorry to hear about the death of your father and your father-in-law. My thoughts are with you and the children.

    • I posted you yesterday but it didn’t appear. Have just messaged you top of page today. Thinking of you, J xxx

This is the latest photo of Evie left and Grace right taken last week on an outing to the local farm/zoo, I think it might be the one at Darley Dale (Flash) for anyone that knows the area. Very runny nose and mucky boots, that’s life in the countryside!

    • My word Jenny – I can’t believe how much those two little girls have grown. They are lovely.
Brin loves lying in the sun too although I know he shouldn’t really. Buffy and Isla are so lucky to have each other to snuggle up to.

Young twins and two dogs – what other company does one need! Great photos JENNY, how fast small children seem to grow don’t they.

    • What beautiful little girls JENNY. You must love having them around

    • What a sweet picture of the girls.

    • Lorna replied 1 year ago

JENNY, my goodness me havent they grown into cute little girls. Love their wellies.
Aww, Buffy and Isla squished up together to get some warmth from the sun, lovely.
Hope you and Maurice are begining to feel better.

Yesterday in Threave gardens was this beautiful Acer hanging on bravely to it leaves, as you see the sky was a lovely shade of blue, shortly afterwards it rained:-

FIONA – My sympathies on the death of your Father, may he rest in peace.

    Love Jenny xxx

    • A beautiful tree. I think the colours have been spectacular this year because the trees held on to their leaves for so long but they are being blown off now but we still have some colour to enjoy before it all goes down-hill.

    • Rosy replied 1 year ago

How glorious are the colours produced on those trees this year JENNY, veritable jewels of the forest. Thank you for bringing the photos here to gladden our eyes.

    • Smashing photos. The colours have been lovely this year and they’ve held on so long, though after this dreadful weather has cleared up who knows.

    • Lorna replied 1 year ago

Good afternoon Everyone. LINDA, thank you for telling us about Fiona’s Dad. I shall be e-mailing her later today. Good morning Villagers from a very bright, sparkling morning down here. I’ve been looking at the Seals at Sanday where what looks like a very new Seal pup is exploring while ‘mum’ is having a snooze though still keeping an eye on her baby. The weather looks so calm there just now with water gently lapping against the shore in the sunshine.…[Read more]
