@Erica there is a Balkan marble white in these pictures. Some of the images are from Corfu others are from Kintyre.

    • They are lovely photos, Peter. Thanks. I am sure you haven’t time to look in here often but I have recently been following NatureUK on Twitter and posting some of their photos of moths, bees dragonflies etc here and I have become quite fascinated with them. I identified my first Banded demoiselle in France in May ( which yours is not, I know) and…[Read more]

Good morning dear Villagers. At present we have bright sunshine down here accompanied by one of those breezes with knives in it – very, very chilly. I’m not complaining though as like you LORNA, yesterday I managed to gather up all the leaves ready for our final garden waste collection this year tomorrow. Thank you for your screen grabs…[Read more]

LORNA, I have tried twice to post a comment about your super garden, lower down, but each time I pressed \’post\’, my posting just disappears! I hope this one will remain so that you can see my thanks for your great photos. You are so organised in all that you do.

    • ROSY, thank you, but it does mean the HW doesnt get done, until I have got the garden sorted, so tomorrow, I can do the dusting and vac. and probably visit a neighbour in hospital in the afternoon.
It still leaves all the pots and trays to be washed and stored away, but the weather forecast looks good for the forthcoming week.

      • Yes, I know LORNA, but anything to do with gardening is so much more satisfying I feel because a garden is a ‘living’ thing, whereas HW just repeats itself with none of the exciting discoveries such as can be enjoyed outdoors.

        • Ha ha Rosy – I agree – put the HW on the back burner – forever if I had my way!!!!

          • 🙂 done the vac and dusting this morning and it wont need doing until after the hairdresser on Wednesday, which leaves me time tomorrow to plant the packet of Allium bulbs I found when moving the furniture around this morning, so you see, it paid to do the HW this morning 🙂

Good afternoon dear Villagers. I’m afraid I haven’t been around here for the last couple of days, at least not properly. All’s well I’m glad to say, but life has been extra hectic, with comings and goings and a long time with E-mails between my Finnish friend Monica and myself re: endeavouring to book a hotel up in Bournemouth where we…[Read more]

    • Thanks Angela. Lovely little bird. I was lucky enough to see one on the east coast as we came back from Scotland but they are always difficult to get a good clear view. Hope you are O.K.

    • That is a pretty little bird, and what journeys they make.
Birding friend went to Thurlstone this morning to see a Desert Wheatear. When he got home he was very pleased to have seen it. He doesnt take photos, just adds it to his list of “seen”.

Good evening dear Villagers. Having been ‘on the move’ rather a lot over the last couple of days, I haven’t managed to post here although I have been popping in for a quick read and to catch up generally. MARION, thank you so much for your latest Hedgehog videos. I’m wondering whether there is any more room for even more bedding to be…[Read more]

    • That’s lovely, thanks ANGELA

    • Awwww ANGELA, what a lovely idea. It’s sad that old dogs don’t often get rehomed. A friend of mine did in fact take in an old dog some years ago. It was with her for just a few years before it had to be put to sleep. I think it would be just as distressing to have to say good bye to an animal after a shorter time as when one has been with you…[Read more]

    • I think thats a brilliant idea. Well done Trelogan Animal rescue centre.

Good morning to all from damp dark Pembrokeshire.
ERICA Thank you for all the interesting pictures,can\’t pick a favourite from those.
Here are the latest pictures from Wales

    • All beautiful ANGELA. My favourite by a whisker is the river Ogwen.

    • Lovely photos. I love the frosted cobwebs.
My friends are on a Tinsel and Turkey trip this week to Pembrokeshire. Their trip (coach) would have had an horrendous traveling journey with the weather.

      • Where are your friends staying Lorna, several Tinsel and Turkey hotels here in Tenby.

        • I wont know until they get back ANGELA, they just said Pembrokeshire. I think its the first Tinsel and Turkey trip they have been on, and they were eager to get away from stress, and the depression of all thats happening in their family. I just hope it will do them good.

    • Lovely pictures. I have a liking for beautiful man-made structures like the bridge.

Time for a cup of tea methinks before settling down to watch the tennis battle of the ‘titans’ between our Andy Murray and Djokovic. I’m rather worried that Andy might be very tired after yesterdays ‘marathon’ of a match; fingers and everything will be crossed. During that epic, of course on TV will be the dreaded ‘dance off’ from…[Read more]

Thank you all so much for your kind words on the passing of my Dad. He had a massive stroke just under two weeks ago and a further catastrophic one the following day, which no one could recover from. We spent every minute we could with Dad until he passed yesterday just after 5pm. Rather freakily, Bob’s dad (who had advanced cancer and ultimately…[Read more]

A very difficult time for you all, FIONA – even though you were expecting it, it is still a huge shock. One of my closest friends lost her Mum and her Mother-in-law within hours of each other a couple of years ago, she too said how comforting she found it that they were both together. xx

    • So sorry about both your Dads FIONA, both so very poorly at the end, as you say, it will be of comfort that they are together now and out of pain and distress. A horrible time for those left behind and always seem to happen near Christmas. Jxxx

I have just returned from my walk and find that at such a sad time FIONA, you have taken the trouble to call in here to our Village to tell us not only about the passing of your Dad, but of that of Bob’s Dad just an hour before. With everyone here, my thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you cope with the all that must be dealt with in…[Read more]

    • I feel so sorry FIONA on reading this news. I pray that you and your family cope during this incredibly difficult and sad time.

    • FIONA, Such sad news that your Father and Bob’s Father passed within
and hour of each other. How difficult this must be for Eilidh and Conall.
Yes, it is good they have each other.
You are all in my prayers and that you will have the strength to see this through and find peace and comfort from all those who care.

    • Fiona – you are very brave to come and tell us the sad news. I don’t think we need to tell you that you are in our thoughts. At least you and Bob can comfort each other as you both go through the same grieving process xxx

    • Lorna replied 1 year ago

FIONA, Bob, Eilidh and Conall, sorry to hear about both Dads in a short space of time of each other.
Please know that we send our love, thoughts and prayers to you all, to see you through the next few weeks..

So sorry to read your sad news Fiona,Thinking of you all.
I have lost two friends in the last couple of weeks One was a blessing as Jean had no quality of life during the last two years and all she wanted to do was just go to sleep.
        Take care xxxxxxx

    • Oh, Fiona, I am sorry to hear about the death of your father and your father-in-law. My thoughts are with you and the children.

    • I posted you yesterday but it didn’t appear. Have just messaged you top of page today. Thinking of you, J xxx
