Good Morning Everyone
Hope you have all recovered from you Jubilee Parties and not to hung over
Well, when we went back up to Lowes on the Tuesday morning desperate to see our new little chick after being hatched from the previous night, although Jan and I did dash back up on the Monday night hoping to get a glimpse of it, but Lady was not for moving off of it.
Anyway, Shirley, Nick, Jan, Rosy and Myself made a toast to our little newly hatchling with a lovely bottle of PROPER champagne courtesy of our Shirley, which I have to say was Mmmmmmmm, lovely. I made a little video of our toast, so here it is. Just after it John Monks appeared, and he too shared in our toast, also some more pictures from my time up at Lowes
09.54 LADDIE BACK 09.56 A LITTLE BIT OF STICK MOVING BY LADDIE AND LADY SETTLING ON NEST, SO ASSUME NO FISH DELIVERY. LADDIE MOVING ACROSS THE NEST, NOW GONE 11.01 Laddie sitting beside Lady just now being very alert
11.08 Lovely to see the whole family still sitting together on the nest 11.24 Laddie just flown in and Chick just appeared from under mum and did a poop shoot 11.28 Laddie gone again 11.36 Nice close ups but lousy colour! 11.37 Lovely close up of Lady, just a shame its in black and white 11.47 Nice pictures of our nest, with just one there at the moment, close up of Rocket snuggled into breast feathers. Not raining!! 12.05 Baby ROCKET ‘home alone’ on its nest just now, breathing EVER SO HEAVILY. Was doing a little preening a few seconds ago but with a large fluffy feather stuck to its beak, almost blinding it in one eye, hope it isn’t blocking its breathing as well! 12.18 Lovely close-up just now of Lady’s feathers, still beautiful even when moulting. Thank you SWT. 12.21 Rocket being fed by mum.
12.19 Fish delivery, but could not see it, chick waddles quickly out of the cam pic, then can hear Lady gently chirping as she feeds it. Cam then pulls back so we can see. 12.37 Laddie arrives on the nest alarm calling and mantling 12.39 Something seems to be bothering Lady whilst she feeds the chick, Laddie is looking on 12.41 She has stopped feeding and is hunkering down on chick whilst Laddie looks about peeping. 12.42 Laddie flies off with remains of fish 12.52 Intruder back and Laddie flies straight onto the nest to protect his family 13.33 Lady now down and over Rocket, in very windy conditions. 14.04 Laddie has just landed and both are standing together at the side of the nest. Little chick’s head is very dark today. 14.06 Lady sits down and I think Laddie has gone. 15.13. Eggcrement shoot by Rocket, straight towards Lady who then goes from side of nest to sit on her baby. 15.51 Fish delivery 16:13 Chick getting a good feed. Lady and Laddie both on nest. 18.40 Lady is sitting crouched very low on the nest protecting little Rocket. 18.52 Live fish delivery but missed the time. Lady on the nest, picture feezing now and again. 20.56 Lady calling in good voice, as I come on to say goodbye to you all 20.58 Fish delivery has arrived, but missed the delivery webcam froze on me, but it must have been in the last couple of minutes as Laddie just flew off when I restarted recording 21.22 New update at Lowes:http://blogs.scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/osprey/ 21.30 Laddie just arrives to take the left over fish and by the looks of it not much has been eaten
21.31 Off he goes now 22.14 Looks quite light at the nest and Lady is sitting watching the world go back 22.26 Lady looks as though she may be sleeping for now 23-06, Lady sitting over Rocket. Looks to be lying awkwardly. 23.11 Lady doing a little digging in the nestbowl 00.58 Lady sleeping Here is a couple of pic’s from our meeting on the 20th May

Another go to see if better!
I suppose thats acceptable when enlarged lol!
getting there D xx, lol
Can’t do anymore for an hour now, so must quickly write down the size of the last one
and see if I can improve on that next time – I doubt as it won’t let me do more than 200 something
or other and the next size up was bang on 200 which it wouldn’t accept. I am determind to crack
it as I used to have no trouble.
Ithink it take 600 x 480, something like that D xx
fills nearly the page now. D

Show-off, isn’t she (Susan), Deirdre?
E x
Just what I thought Eileen!
jealousy is a terrible thing girls, lol xxxxx
right have to get ready to pick Emma up, back later xx If anyone about will they take a note of nest activities, thank you xx
What a beautiful close up of the not so little chick anymore, when you see a close up of mums talons it is just amazing how gentle she is when around her baby. Has dad been a good fish provider today, reading yesterdays post at the Lowes they seem to be a little disappointed in his fish supply, but regardless both mum and baby look great, so he must be doing something right. One question if I may, now that the other two eggs have failed to hatch will mum or dad try and remove them from the nest because I am sure I read that they both have cracks in them? thanks.
A few more pics from a memorable week in Scotland!

3 more from the Hermitage, one showing more of the storm damage suffered last year
And one just outside the Crannog hide at Lowes, reflecting (I hope) the peace and calm the loch exudes.
Beautiful photos, thanks Nick
Thanks Nick,I can just imagine sitting in the hide peering at that wonderful magic loch.x
Lovely pics Nick, love the bottom one where we all sat and looked out at the magical loch. xxx
Agree Jan, I’ve got one similar

Dx
NICK, beautiful photos, and I particularly like the 2nd one down. Draws you right into the middle of the photo. Such a shame, all that storm damage. Are they leaving the fallen trees for nature to take over, or are they clearing it all? I would like to think they would leave them in situ, for the wildlife to make use of.
Nick
I really love that 2nd shot,it just looks fantastic to my eye,but then i always had a funny eye,i`m looking aswell but cant see the Robin in any of those shots?
Nick
Ross
LOL, good one Ross, I couldn’t see it either. It is a great shot though xxx
17.22 CHICK BEING FED
Just watched Nora fly from the nest at Dyfi, leaving the 2 chicks, whilst Monty is on his perch
17.25 CHICK LOOKS FULL UP
18. 20 Large headless fish delivery, Lady straight on it followed by chick. Lady feeds the chick as Laddie watches for a couple of minutes before he flies off

Great screen grabs Jan, she/he is such a poppit
Dx
19.02 Laddie flies in and takes the fish
19.05 Lady flies off and straight back on to the nest and settles on the chick
Trawling through the local BBC web site for something specific, I came across something for ROSY within the heading of Diamond Jubliee: Parties around the world. 8th photo/story down, by
Alla Koptseva, Estonia.

New Wildlife Diary up at Lowes. Interestingly, Laddie had another aerial fight with 2 Buzzards today. He had one last Saturday as well.
19-26, Lady appears to be asleep neslting over Rocket, no she isnt, she is now looking up and alert.
19-27, her head is slowly sinking down, now looking around.
19-30, Rocket trying to creep out, now back under.
He is very protective of Lady and the chick Lorna, what a fantastic job he is doing xxx
Hi Everyone. Just a quick hello. Not been around and just popped in to say hope everyone has had a good weekend. Unfortunately the weekend has been overshadowed by some terrible news that happened on Friday. For those who were following the story about Bilie Bainbridge, she sadly lost her fight for life on Friday aged just 5.
Not much more to say than that. Hope everyone is well
Claire xx
Hi Claire, nice to see you.
What a shame, such a young age to lose her life, that is so sad. Thanks for letting us know Claire xx
Really sorry to read that Claire, I know she was close to your heart, it’s awful how many youngsters get cancer, and even sadder that nothing can be done for them, you and the Bainbridge family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
On a happier note Claire, Hellgate is up and running again, and she is sitting on I think 3 eggs…best of all we can watch the choo choos again….lol.
Love E xx
I am off for my tea with Adam, a hot home made curry, see you later, if I dont fall asleep lol xxx
20.05 Lady feeding the chick with Fish now
Does anyone know this plant growing on the way down to the harbour?
Looks like a triffid!!
Is it that big or is it just the view the photo was taken??
Good evening all, glad everyone seems to have enjoyed the little video i posted.

will share this this picture tonight, hope you enjoy.
Young Woodpecker, they think it was there first day out the nest.

Wow, Stunning. love that one Ross especially the one in flight, they are beautiful little birds xxx
That’s super looks as I need plenty of lessons on using my camera.
Thanks Angela, hard to believe that was taken the first day I ever photographed a Kingfisher, couldnt believe my luck and just proves that a lot of photography is down to being in the right place at the right time.

Just for a change, work and catching up on things has taken over recently so havent even really had a chance to go through lots of my pictures from the last couple of weeks, and only had fleeting checks on whats happening at Lowes,so apologies for my lack of input lately!
Just kidding John lol
Amyway Susan with reference your Champers at Lowes,I think I should warn you for future events that Mr Monks can hear bottle tops popping from a great distance, everytime I see him on facebook it looks like hes having a drink
Anyway I`ll hopefully catch up in a couple of days once works out the way for another 4 days and get some new pictures.
Cheers for now folks

One of the Grebes on there Nest.
That was amazing Neil, I didnt realise the nest was actually in the water, I thought it was in at the side of the loch, no wonder it kept getting washed away. I hope this one is ok Thanks for the VT it was great xxxx
I realise that it’s rather late, LORNA, but if you are looking in, I wanted to thank you for posting the link to the various Jubilee pieces, including the one from the family in Estonia. Isn’t it great that they think so much of our Queen and of London.
I did watch part of Springwatch this evening and was delighted that they included a section with Roy Dennis talking about Raptors in general and Ospreys in particular, amongst other birds and of all the work that has been done to reverse the decline prior to 60 years ago. So glad I caught that piece, he is such a lovely man.
Hope everyone has had a good day. A friend and I were out in Plymouth this afternoon. There were a great many people wandering around, enjoying the sunshine, others having a boat ride up the River Tamer to see the dockyard, and down in the Barbican area were a group (or troup)? of Morris dancers entertaining onlookers, all quite festive.
Have enjoyed reading the banter here between you boys, Neil and Ross, really made me laugh. I love all the photos here, too, especially those magnificent trees NICK; more happy memories for you of our much loved Scotland.
Oh, I nearly forgot to tell you MARION, that while I was sitting at my kitchen table, having breakfast and looking out of the window at my small garden, what should I see, but a hedgehog sauntering down towards the house. Goodness knows how it got in because I always keep my back gate closed and the space between it and the ground is only about 2 inches! I don’t know where it went. But just in case it decided to live under my waterbutt, am I right in thinking that we can feed them with cat food, but no milk? I would love to think it might like to stay. I should very much appreciate advice please.
A pause as I watch the Finale of the Jubilee Concert on TV..The Queen must be so exhausted, and now worrying about Prince Philip in hospital. Perhaps all those hours of standing in cold weather and damp air has affected him too much.
HI Rosy,
Thrilled to hear about the hedgehog – yes, you can feed cat food, although I always use hedgehog food, plus sultanas and dried mealworms. You are absolutely right – NO MILK, but a bowl of water is essential, particularly if you leave out the drier type of food.
Do hope he/she decides to make a home in your garden – I must admit I was surprised it was out in the day as normally they are only out in the day if they are poorly, so worth keeping an eye out to see if it is out again during the day and if so, maybe contacting a local rescue centre, if you have one.

22.41 Lady now has gone from the screen, its black and to dark to see her. Someone forgot to switch the Night camera On!!!
Rosy if it isn’t a huge hedggie it will squeeze under the 2inch gap, no problem. E x
Need to check back, but they have forgotten to switch the Infra Red Camera on now.

How is Peter today? And how are you coping?
Marion x
23.34 LOWES WEBCAM DOWN FOR ME
MARION, thank you so much for the good hedgehog advice. I have sultanas, do they need soaking first like I used to do for the blackbirds? Yes, a friend said the same as you about having seen the hedgehog out in daylight, and I shall definitely keep an eye out for him/her tomorrow. I have left out moist cat food in gravy and a dish of water, so we’ll see. Wish I had night cameras like you have. On the other hand I might not see him again.
BRIAN, so glad to hear you and Jacqueline and her husband had such a good day together, shall look forward to hearing all about it anon, and in the meantime, I think those photos are enchanting.
