Good morning villagers.
We had such another tender moment yesterday of Laird feeding Lady on the nest. He is such a wonderful character. Still full of surprises!!! You just have to love him.
Seeing as it has been raining buckets at Lowes I have included 3 photo’s with a water theme lol. The first two are of Lady and Lairds eldest chick from last year (think she was nicknamed Gutsy!) and the third one is of Lady washing her feet a few years ago.
NESTCAP FOR 6TH MAY 2011
FISH COUNT = 2
DAYS TO HATCHING
EGG 1 - 12 (its getting close)
EGG 2 - 15
EGG 3 - 19
MORNING:
Brolly required but we have had wonderful news from MarjorieM
04.15 - Lady wide awake slight breeze on the nest but still wet in the rain
04.31 - Big wing flapping followed by a fly off from the nest (potty break?) Lady is back again in 12 seconds
06.15 - Laird lands on the nest with some fish, Lady shouts but does not get up off the eggs. Laird starts eating and then feeds Lady for 8 mins. The fish has gone and he flies off. Definitely an aah moment
10.23 - Something above the nest. Laird just covered it with his wings full out
11.54 - Laird flies off then back again
AFTERNOON:
12.32 - Laird alarm calling… at first not to bad… then he gets very upset and stands up off the eggs pipping and then screeching very loudly… walked to the top of the nest to gaze over the Loch, all sorted.. and back to sit on his precious cargo again.
13.13 - 7Y is brooding now, the precious Laird. I had tears in my eye corners when he was giving food to Marge. Last summer did spring to mind too. The nest is so beautiful with colours!
13.33 - Lady has been away over 3hrs.
13.50 - Laird turns eggs and flies off the nest… he has to be stiff. Just a stretch and to get the blood flowing again.. and our boy is back again.
14.28 - Another wig arrival, courtesy of the Laird!!
15.21 - Laird back – and Lady is giving him a real telling off for bringing in more nest material and no fish – so he has flown off again
18.19 - Lady shouting for her supper
EVENING:
19.18 - Lady turning eggs and shouting
20.07 - Laird flies in with fish. Lady takes it off him and he flies off!! Then Lady flies off
20.16 - Laird back then Lady back with no fish!! She must be stashing it somewhere. Laird looks at her and then her feet and then flies off. Lady goes onto the eggs. What is going on here?
20.32 - Lady turns the eggs
21.17 - Lady calling intermittently
21.26 - Infra Red Cam on. Where are those frog legs!!
22.08 - Lady head down and having a snooze

Hi is that Laird or Lady on the nest at the moment – I am finding it quite difficult to make my picture is so dark. I notice the swapped at 5′ish but no mention since then. Looks like the weather has not improved one jot there.
Hi Imac Laird is on the nest xxx
Did they swap the fish again or did he eat it all when he left with it at 5do you know x

Oh well as long as they are all safe and well and well fed for another night I am more than happy. I couldn’t wait to check this morning after the terrible weather during the night.
Hi Chrissie,
Only just back on blog and have seen your earlier comments about the nest! exactly my thoughts too only said to Paul the other day there will be no room for the chicks. I expect once they hatch Lady will throw a lot of the twigs over the edge and be done with it. I wonder if Laird has built himself a shelter nearby??
Love Dx
He’s doing the right thing for this stage in the game – building a nice tall shelter for the chicks when they’re tiny. He’ll soon widen the nest-bowl once they’re bigger and more adventurous – he’s an experienced dad now! The high ‘walls’ are perfect for protecting eggs and tiny chicks from the strong winds and rain of a typical Scottish spring.
I did post the swap over at 19.13 ish (lol) but did not see if he bought any fish back. It got lost in the ether as the site went down. xxx
Marion

much love

So sorry to hear about Cas’s loss – it is always so devasting to lose a pet – they are part of your family.
Just wondered if anybody had looked in on the puffin webcam on Shetland recently – when I looked a few minutes ago, there were two puffins in the burrow and I am sure I saw an egg

Marion, please pass on my thoughts to Cass about the loss of Cassie. I know how she feels. Lots of caring thoughts and hugs are on they way to her.
Jan, thank you for those photos of “Gutsy” and Lady. Great Nest cap too.
Millan, what a beautiful photo of the Osprey with 4 eggs.It will be interesting to see how that family get on.
Julie, that was a great “postcard” you posted. Very much looking forward to day 2.
I thought the cards from the children for the Eaglets were very moving. Again, seen through children`s eyes.
20-07, Laird on the eggs, after a bit of a naughty day I read, but he sure looks the bees knees now. Butter wouldnt melt in his mouth!!
I am now going around the cams. Will pop back later
Ou yes, Lorna dear, chicks are now in the beginning in process to be chicks. Let´s see are they all hatchin.
We´ll see…lol
In the hour or so that I was away, I return to read the sad news, Marion which you have brought us of Cas’s very sad loss of Cassie. Please pass on my sincere condolences when you are next in touch with her, and tell her that I too send her my love and thoughts during her pain. As has already been said, Cas has done the kindest act in letting her beloved pet go, but I expect we all know the agony of saying goodbye to a pet, which has often been a companion for many years. I hope that all our loving thoughts for you Cas, may bring you, in some small measure, comfort.
Paula, I loved reading all those messages from the children in America sent to the Bald Eaglets. Isn’t it heart warming to know that such young children care so much about wildlife – hope for the future. On a more personal note, I hope you are now well on the mend Paula, ready for your visit to the Lowes.
Millan, thank you so much for the link to the picture of those two Ospreys beside their FOUR eggs in Finland. They look so beautiful on their nest in the midst of the surrounding forest, bathed in the evening sunshine.
I know I haven’t mentioned our beloved Lady and Laird today, but I have been watching her from time to time. What a relief that she managed to ‘offload’ that ghastly twig. Unfortunately, once again, I missed the fish delivery, never mind, as long as they are both well fed, that’s all that matters isn’t it.
I send a big circle of hugs to EVERYONE here, with love Rosy.
Rosy dear, the nest in Hailuoto is in moor, it´s very bare environment, the nestpine is actually the highest place there.
So, good night to all!
So sorry to hear that Cas has lost her beloved Cassi today. As we all know too well, nothing prepares you for losing our beloved pets. I’m so glad she was able to say goodbye to Cassi and I’m sure that will be a comfort to her in the days to come. xx
and he’s off.
both back
dad gone again
20.35 LAIRD OFF THEN BACK ALONG WITH LADY. NOW HE IS OFF AGAIN AND LADY SETTLES ON THE NEST. HE WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF SHE HAD ANYTHING WITH HER!!! SO PERHAPS HE DID BRING SOME REMAINS OF FISH LAST TIME XXX
JUST BROUGHT UP THE CAMERA AND SAW THE EGGS ALL ALONE, THEN FIRST LAIRD AND THEN LADY FLEW IN. LAIRD SOON LEFT AND LADY IS SETTLING HERSELF ON THE EGGS
Sorry to hear Cass has lost her beloved Cassie and rather suddenly. I find losing a pet so devastating and very hard to get over I really feel for her being on her own tonight.
Good Evening folks. Rosy Nick will be busy tonight so I’ll give it a go. Must do one for Cassi first though – between the thunder and lightening, I’ve got the surge resistant extension in so we should be okay.
For Cassi and her Mum.
You woke this morning not feeling well.
For your mum dear Cassi this was a shock.
Through all her recent ups and downs.
You’ve sat on her knee and been her rock.
The lady vet said you were very sick.
The kindest thing would be the big sleep.
Through tears and anguish your mum stood tall.
And made the kindest choice of all.
So now my darling you are at peace.
Your mum must now take time to grieve.
As she misses you sitting on her willing lap.
Your purr no longer greeting her, as you look up -
with your imposing stare.
Dear Cas you will remember better times…
and tears of sorrow will turn to tears of joy. x
Thank you Shirley beautifully said for all of us xxx
Thank you.
That will be very comforting for Cass.
Shirley, that was beautiflully put. Tears here for Cass and Cassie. Painfull memories.
hearing some rumours on twitter that Maggie thatcher isn’t doing too well. Will update if i hear anything.
Shirley, what a lovely poem for Cas and Cassie too. Of COURSE they must take first place ‘cos they are part of our FAMILY. Bless you.xx

Thoughts of Seve.
Your smile lit up the dullest day.
Your swing made the girls giggle with sheer delight.
You played with strokes of brilliance
And were always clapped and cheered.
A brilliant ambassador for the sport you loved
For many years you brought joy to your many fans.
An inspirational voice to both young and old.
And now there is a hole, a void.
As the world of golf and the world at large -
Mourn the passing of a peoples friend.
I’ve just put a couple of pictures in my album that I took this afternoon in the garden of a frog and a wasp’s nest.
Kath I’m so sorry I hadn’t seen that sponge – cat had been poorly. Here’s hoping he is well enough for you t get to Lowes sunday. But we all know our pets come first.x
JoyceS your photo’s are ace.x
Goodnight all, my thoughts are with Cas who has lost a beloved friend and Jill who has one that is poorly

Hi Jan – I don’t have a poorly pet – I think its Kath that does – just so people don’t ask me how mine is! I don’t have a pet, just quite a lot of the stuffed variety!
Sorry Jill, I did mean Kath. xxx
Poor picture again. Can make Lady out when she moves her head.
Havent seen the weather forecast for tomorrow, but I do hope its drier at Lowes, than it has been, although we know the land needs water. We have had rain here in my part of Devon this evening, but not the thunder like we had last night.
Kath, hope Sponge keeps doing well. Soft food for him now probably.
For those grieving for lost loved ones my thoughts are with you, for those not well, hope tomorrow brings a vast improvement.
Bed calling so I will say goodnight, and hope tomorrow is a much better day for all. Take care all.
Hi all
just finally got in, flaming computers, Im on my
little netbook just now after getting it all updated etc and its still running slow.
I am so sorry to hear about Cas and Cassie,
My thoughts are with you tonight Cas and of course little Cassie R.I.P
It is hard to say anything to you Cas, and you know how we all feel about losing on of our beloved pets that are really our family. It does ease Cas and we will be here for you when you are ready. xxx
Thank you Shirley for your tribute to Seve, a Basque from nothern Spain. For me, he epitomised all that the Basques are, a vibrant people, and proud of their language which is so expressive. No, I don’t speak Basque, but I came across quite a few during my time in Spain, including a group of Basque men, to whom I taught English. They were so likeable and with such a sense of humour. I also had the pleasure of working with a Basque colleague who as a tour guide had just that energetic drive with all her visitors – just like Seve, Their choirs remind me of our own Welsh singers, they have superb voices. I remember that during the autumn months, groups of Basque pensioners used to come down to Cataluna (can’t find the sedilla to go over the ‘n’ on this keyboard), for their holidays. My goodness, were they lively, they enjoyed life to the full, just as Seve obviously did. Like his fellow Basques, his spirit was indomitable.
was very sad to hear about Seve. R.I.P
Good night all,
Sorry to hear about cassie I did write
A lot more but lost it when my p.c. Went down
So am posting this on my I pad.
Let’s hope for lots of good news in the morning
Regards ,
George.
